A cardiologist specializes in diseases of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels and manages complex cardiac conditions. Cardiologists are skilled in the functional assessment of the heart and blood vessels and in the clinical evaluation of cardiovascular disease.

The Cardiologist often performs complicated diagnostic procedures and consults with surgeons on open-heart surgery and performs angioplasty as needed.
